Korean Reps

Korean 이/가 vs 을/를 Drill

Adds verbs that take 이/가 or 을/를

The verb decides

좋다 and 좋아하다 both mean "like", but they take different particles. With 좋다, the thing you like takes 이/가: 저는 김치가 제일 좋아요. With 좋아하다, it takes 을/를: 저는 김치를 제일 좋아해요.

Four groups to remember

Why English gets in the way

In English, "I need an umbrella" makes the umbrella the object. In Korean, 필요하다 makes the umbrella the subject, so it takes 이/가. 있다 (have) works the same way: 저는 자전거가 있어요.
